anastasia slave – 18cm
This Brazilian image is part of the collection of Afro-Brazilian images from the renowned factory Imagens Bahia. This plaster image of Slave Anastácia (bust) belongs to class 18cm-W. Actual colors and dimensions of images may differ from perspective and proportionality shown by your screen settings and our photo editing. The dimensions assigned are nominal and do not represent the exact measurements of the image, the displayed measurement represents the classification or the size group in which the image falls. This class can only take into account the height and/or the width and length of the statue (eg, the representation of a kneeling image will not be the same height as the same image standing or with arms raised, but it will be wider. All may belong to the same class). Brief legend of the Slave Anastasia: Legend has it that Anastasia was a slave who played a role as a healer/miracle who helped and cured the sick around her. Her healing skills were paralleled by her extraordinary beauty that captured the attention of the men around her. The slave was sentenced to repeated beatings and wearing the Flanders mask (an iron mask that prevented the ingestion of any food) for refusing to surrender her virginity to her master. These punishments were fatal and Anastacia died in the arms of these martyrdoms, her beauty being deformed by the permanent use of the mask. There is a shrine of the cult of Escrava Anastácia in Rio de Janeiro. Because it is a bust, this image is approximately 15cm tall.
