ABOUT THE JAPAMALA The Japa mala or mala (Sanskrit: माला; mālā, meaning string or garland) is a series of beads, usually composed of 108 beads, used by Hindus and Buddhists to, like rosaries and rosaries, keep the counting while reciting, chanting or mentally repeating mantras. This practice is called Japa in Sanskrit. The number has particular significance on both a physical and spiritual level for the Hindu religion and the Buddhist religion. Sometimes, some malas carry 4 markers called chaturmaharaja, different and sometimes symbolic beads.
