Many events occur unexpectedly and make us believe that they happened by magic. In With the Aid of High Magic, Gerald Gardner addresses this through a novel with a plot that involves Witchcraft and great mysteries of magical practices.

This work tells the story of brothers Jan and Olaf Bonder, who saw their family's fortune ruined as a result of the murder of their grandfather and the taking of their fortress house by a Norman, Fitz-Urse. Jan, the eldest brother, is not satisfied with the fate that has been reserved for his family and, very ambitious, convinces the young Olaf to help him in the search for the restitution of the riches, the lands and the castle that should have belonged to them.

For this realization, they seek the help of Thur Peterson, a physician and great connoisseur of High Magic. In this endeavor, the three get involved in adventures, battles and magical rituals, and are taken to a witch, who will be of great importance in achieving their goals.
