buddha 29cm This 29cm buddha image is made of resin and represents Buddha in the Bhumisparsha Mudra position ("Call the Earth as Witness or Victoria over Mara"). In this position, Siddhartha Gautama is sitting cross-legged, with the palm of the left hand resting on his lap and the right hand pointing towards the floor with the palm facing Buddha. This position refers to the moment when Buddha after six years is about to reach enlightenment. Mara, the demon of illusion, tries to dissuade Buddha, but after a long meditation he overcomes his fears and his temptations, calling the Earth Goddess to witness this moment. The Earth Goddess, witnessing this moment, releases torrents of water to ward off mara and her temptations. This position is the most common position in temples in Thailand. Its dimensions are about 29.00cm high by 19.00cm wide and 12.00cm deep at its base. Its weight is 820 grams. The measurements and weights shown in the image are approximate.
