about tutankhamun
Tutankhamun, also known as the “Child Pharaoh”, was born in 1336 BC and died in 1327 BC Tutankhamun, last pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, son of Pharaoh Akhenaten was pharaoh of Ancient Egypt between the years 1361 and 1352 BC
Tutankhamun stood out for taking the capital to Memphis and for having taken up polytheism, which had been abandoned by his father Akhenaten.
Tutankhamun will have died a murder victim with a strong blow to the head. However, after the examination of his mummy in the tomb of the Valley of the Kings in 2005 by tomography, this hypothesis was discarded. The young king was healthy and most likely died from complications from a hunting accident.
This pharaoh stands out for the fact that his tomb in a pyramid in the Valley of the Kings was found intact. In it, the English archaeologist Howard Carter found, in 1922, a great amount of treasures. Tutankhamun's mummified body was also in the tomb, inside a sarcophagus, covered with a gold death mask. The coffin where the pharaoh's mummy lay is also solid gold.
More than five thousand pieces were found in Tutankhamun's tomb, including jewelry, personal effects, ornaments, vases, sculptures and weapons.
During the excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb, some workers on the team died unexpectedly. From this fact came the famous legend of the Pharaoh's Curse. On the wall of the pyramid was found an inscription that said that whoever disturbed the Pharaoh's eternal sleep would die. However, the explanation for the curse refers to the inhalation of deadly fungi by the first workers from the rarefied air inside the tomb.
