the marseille tarot

The Marseille Tarot will most likely be the most popular and best known tarot in the world, being the most used deck in tarot initiation. The reproductions follow Nicolas Conver's classic version of the Tarot de Marseilles from the 18th century.

This Marseille tarot deck from the reputable AGM card factory consists of 78 cards and an instruction booklet.

Illustrator Otto Spalinger used new shades to revive this classic tarot deck, bringing the pale colors of the old illustrations to life. The instruction book is translated into Portuguese and the cards are 12 cm long by 7 cm wide .

The Marseille Tarot Cards In its cast mode, the Marseille tarot deck can be divided into major and minor arcana, making a total of 78 cards or blades.

The minor arcana (less revealing) are composed of four suits of fourteen cards (from As to 10, plus the “Court” represented by the Page (or Knight), the Jack, the Queen and the King). divided by the symbols of Alchemy (Earth, Air, Water, Fire) and by the plans of each person (mental, spiritual, sentimental and material).

The Major Arcana or Triumphs are divided into 22 cards or symbols and their names and symbols may have slight variations depending on the deck (the arcane card “The Fool” has no number or is displayed as zero): Arcane 0 – The Crazy / Arcane I – the Magician / Arcanum II – The Pope / Arcanum III – The Empress / Arcanum IV – The Emperor / Arcanum V – 5 – The Pope / Arcanum VI – The Lovers / Arcanum VII – The Chariot / Arcanum VIII – Justice / Arcanum IX – The Hermit / Arcanum X – The Wheel of Fortune / Arcanum XI – The Force / Arcanum XII – The Hanged Man / Arcanum XIII – Death / Arcanum XIV – Temperance / Arcanum XV – The Devil / Arcanum XVI – The Tower / Arcanum XVII – The Star / Arcane XVIII – The Moon / Arcane XIX – The Sun / Arcane XX – The Judgment / Arcanum XXI – The World While the major arcana arouse very strong and powerful philosophical and spiritual reflections, immediately indicating possible interpretations and meanings, the minor arcana refer to the everyday and the immediate. These minor arcana will be important for more accurate answers or for trying to “understand” the exact and detailed meaning for the interpretation of the major arcana.
