The Scarecrows, also known as wind chimes, serve, as their name implies, to ward off the so-called "Wandering Spirits" that have bad intentions or "feed" on human energy. It is also believed that, through the vibration of the sound they produce, they attract positive energies, protective energies, harmony and joy.
The natural melodies produced bring us calm, well-being and harmony.
Spirits, in ancient times, were immensely used to warn their holders of the presence of spirits, bad energies, etc... with soft tinkling.

There are reports that say that they tinkled even without wind or air currents and that that natural vibration was enough to make these energies (spirits) not remain in that place.
